Market Crew Member (Part-Time)

The Wardensville Garden Market is one of our social enterprises providing real-life learning experiences for Appalachian youth. At our Market, we not only provide learning opportunities, we provide an extraordinary customer experience. We are seeking a part-time Market Crew Member to provide operations support to our vibrant and thriving market. 

This position reports to the Market Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Conduct accurate register transactions
  • Clean and maintain the Market space and equipment 
  • Stock, arrange, price, and handle products
  • Serve our award winning baked goods
  • Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages
  • Must pass WV Food Handlers training and certification after hire

KEY QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 18 years or older with a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to regularly lift 40+ lbs and ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Retail experience is preferred but not required


    EXPECTED WORK SCHEDULE

    This part-time position is expected to work 12-30 hours per week, up to five days a week, inclusive of mornings, evenings, weekends, and some government holidays.

    The Wardensville Garden Market is currently open Thursday through Monday. The majority of shifts will occur during those days. We currently operate with staffing between 7am and 7pm, with Summer operations (May - September) staffed between 7am and 9pm. These hours are subject to change.

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

    This position is classified as non-exempt with a starting wage of $15.00 per hour. In addition to competitive pay, we offer the following benefits for part-time employees:

    Farms Work Wonders is a nonprofit social enterprise whose mission is to ignite the spark of curiosity in Appalachian youth so they see themselves and their future in new and exciting ways. We create living classrooms to provide real-life learning experiences and generate proceeds that are 100% reinvested back into the local community. In 2016, Farms Work Wonders started with the Wardensville Garden Market project—an organic farm and farm stand.  Since opening, our enterprises have expanded to include a market, bakery, glass blowing studio, and restaurant (expected to open Summer 2023) that have currently created over 100 local, good-paying jobs with many held by local high school students.
