If you are a passionate worker looking for a fulfilling role allowing you to work with purpose while also elevating your game, THIS is the opportunity for you!  Now is the time for you to stand out in the crowd, join our leadership team and help drive an expansion strategy that will see our shop double in size while greatly increasing our product assortment and volume.  The Assistant Market Manager role at the Wardensville Garden Market is the perfect new path for you!  Our Market is loaded with fresh, organic produce direct from our adjacent farm, freshly baked goods made by hand each day and locally sourced products from neighboring farms and producers.  In addition to working closely with the Market Manager to implement efficient processes, maintain production, and lead people to keep our customers coming back for more; you’ll also be fully immersed in our Farms Work Wonders Junior Crew mentoring program. 

Our market is based in an original 1800’s farm house, surrounded by the incredible beauty of our farm.  Our location allows for easy commuting to the Winchester/Stephens City/Strasburg/Front Royal areas as well as a quick ride from Moorefield and surrounding communities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Our Assistant Market Manager is responsible for helping to manage and lead the market team while the market is open, and ensuring that our customer experience standards are being met. Outside of market operation, there is also a responsibility to attend meetings and assist with interdepartmental collaborations, assist with inventory management, product procurement, team development, scheduling, and other back of house duties. 

KEY QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Passionate about local food products and systems

  • Passionate about working for a youth-driven nonprofit organization

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • Must have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience

  • Must have a valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and ability to stand for long periods of time

  • Ability to take direction and demonstrate initiative when necessary

  • Ability to work alone or with a team on various projects

  • Ability to read charts, do minor data entry, and interpret sales metrics

  • Must have leadership/management experience or related educational qualifications

  • Must be reliable, have strong communication skills, and demonstrate an eagerness to learn

  • Must have a friendly and positive demeanor

  • Must have weekend availability

  • Experience working in a retail environment or in a customer service setting is a BONUS!

COMPENSATION

This position is classified as non-exempt with wages starting at $17.00 an hour. In addition to competitive pay, we offer the following benefits for regular, full-time employees:
